What are Head Lice Nits? 

Head lice nits are the egg (larvae) form of the head lice. While the adult lice live throughout the hair and scalp, the head lice nits attach to the base of the hair. These head lice nits attach themselves with a strong glue-like substance, making them tricky to remove. 

How to Remove Head Lice Nits 

A good lice killing shampoo will kill the adult lice. To remove head lice nits, you’ll need to be a bit more aggressive. The shampoos do not kill the head lice nits, so you’ll need to follow these steps:

• After shampooing, separate the hair into sections.
• Using a special lice comb, inspect each hair strand and remove any nits. This can take anywhere from two to six hours, so be patient.
• Treat the scalp with special oil that will kill any remaining adults.
